November 06, 2015 –  e-con Systems announces the Part Number change notification for e-CAM51_USB
e-con Systems announces the Part Number change notification for e-CAM51_USB. The ordering part number for e-CAM51_USB is changed to e-CAM51A_USB and e-CAM52_5640_MOD is changed to e-CAM52A_5640_MOD. The socket that is there on the e-CAM51_USB is now obsolete. We have replaced it with the new socket. There is no change in the performance or any change in the Software.

Oct 13, 2015 –  e-con Systems Launches USB 3.0 RGB-IR Camera with Interchangeable Lenses

e-con Systems announces the launch of See3CAM_CU40, the industry's first RGB-IR pixel format camera with a USB 3.0 UVC interface, and the e-CAM40_CUMI4682_MOD, a stand-alone MIPI CSI-2 module. The new See3CAM_CU40 is a member of e-con's See3CAM family of USB 3.0 UVC cameras, and is based on the 1/3-inch OV4682, a 4-megapixel image sensor from OmniVision Technologies. The See3CAM_CU40 camera, combined with the S-mount (M12) lens holder, allows customers to use lenses and optical filters such as IR cutoff, IR pass, or dual band filters, based on their application requirements.

The camera supports video streaming at 300 frames per second (FPS) in 672 x 388 pixels, 90 FPS in 720p high definition (HD) and 1080p HD in 40 FPS. At its full resolution of 4-megapixels (2688 x 1520 pixels), the See3CAM_CU40 can support 14 FPS in 10 bits-per-pixel format. The See3CAM_CU40 has manual exposure control that allows exposure to be controlled from 100 microseconds to 1 second. The UVC-compliant camera is plug-and-play in both Windows and Linux without requiring additional drivers. In Windows, the camera is exposed as a DirectShow device, and in Linux as a V4L2 capture source.

e-con Systems has developed a USB camera application for Android Phones and Tablets - Webeecam. Webeecam supports any camera that conforms to the USB Video Class Specification (UVC) which includes an array of off-the -shelf webcams.  This makes your USB camera portable and allows you to instantly share the captured images using any social media applications. e-con Systems' intends to add new features every month like the ability to connect multiple UVC USB cameras to the phone/tablet.

The e-CAM130_CUMI1820_MOD is based on AR1820HS CMOS Image sensor from Aptina / onsemi® Imaging and is provided with the S-mount (M12) lens mount that enables customers to choose a lens of their choice. This camera module houses an high-performance ISP chip that performs Auto functions (Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance, etc) in addition to the complete ISP pipeline that provides best-in-class images and video along with the optional MJPEG compression. The e-CAM130_CUMI1820_MOD supports 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 interface for video transport and the standard I2C interface for camera control. Through the 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 interface, this camera module supports Ultra HD (3840x2160) video streaming in addition to Full-HD and HD video streaming in both uncompressed YUV422 and MJPEG formats. The still image capture is supported at full 13MP resolution in both uncompressed BMP and compressed JPEG format.

It also streams VGA@ 102 fps, HD @ 50 fps, FHD @ 52 fps and 4K or Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) at 25 fps in compressed MJPEG format. See3CAM_CU130 - 13MP Custom Lens USB 3.0 Camera (Color)
The compact See3CAM_CU130 camera measures 30mm x 30mm in size is constructed as a two-PCB solution. The camera has the S-Mount (also known as M12 lens mount) enabling the customers to use any off-the-shelf lenses for different applications demanding different lenses. The USB 3.0 base board contains the USB 3.0 connector, an indication LED and the GPIO header. Customers can also use the TRIGGER signal available on the GPIO connector to provide external TRIGGER signal for still image capture. The STROBE signal of the GPIO connector can be used to enable the LED Flash for external illumination.
 
One important feature of this camera is the Zero-Lag-Shutter image capture. The preview to 13MP still image capture time is very fast and can be completed within 700ms for 13MP image in JPEG format. This is beneficial for applications where high-speed snapshots at full 13MP resolutions are to be captured instantly while previewing the low resolution, high-frame rate preview. Read more..

e-con Systems announces the launch of the See3CAM_CU51, part of the See3CAM family of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed cameras. The See3CAM_CU51 is based on MT9P031 Monochrome CMOS Image sensor from Aptina / onsemi® and is provided with the S-mount (M12) lens mount that enables customers to choose a lens of their choice. The See3CAM_CU51 supports video streaming at resolutions of up to 1080p@30fps and full resolution (2592x1944) @14fps with 12bits per pixel resolution. The See3CAM_CU51 supports normal Electronic Rolling Shutter (ERS) operation on the preview video and can switch to Global Reset Release (GRR) mode for the 5MP still image capture. In the GRR mode, all the pixels of the image sensor are reset simultaneously and exposed at the same until the pixels are read out sequentially. GRR mode reduces the image distortion while capturing moving objects, compared with the regular Electronic Rolling Shutter mode. This mode is a good fit for applications where, a quasi-global shutter mode is required in a cost-effective fashion. And the GRR still image capture can be triggered with an external Trigger signal. e-con Systems announces the launch of the See3CAM_12CUNIR, part of the See3CAM family of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed cameras. Sep 24th, 2014 -  e-con Systems augments CX3 RDK software with Linux support

e-con Systems today announced support for Linux for the Cypress CX3 reference design, See3CAM_CX3RDK. The Linux support will enable customers to use the See3CAM_CX3RDK for their various developmental efforts where Linux operating system is involved. Earlier, the company had provided the support for Windows during the initial launch a year ago. The See3CAM_CX3RDK is a two board solution with a main board featuring the CX3 chip and a breakout board featuring the camera modules from e-con Systems. Says, HarishAnkaar, VP-Business Development, e-con Systems "We had queries from customers who were integrating the Cypress EZ-USB® CX3 chip in to their product and wanted to have Linux UVC support. There were also queries from customers who were building their own USB 3.0 cameras with CX3 as the USB controller needing Linux UVC support. Using this support, customers can launch their products using the Cypress CX3 chip. Some of these customers use our camera modules that come as part of the See3CAM_CX3RDK".

Aug 27th, 2014 -  e-con launches Near Infrared camera, e-CAM51_USB_NIRFS

e-con Systems today announced the launch of a NIR version of its flagship product e-CAM51_USB - 5MP USB 2.0 Camera Module. The NIR version will help customers to work with applications such as Night vision, Surveillance, Industrial image processing applications, spectroscopy,etc. Earlier the company had launched e-CAM51_USB in 2012 and today e-con Systems has more than 100 customers in mass production using the e-CAM51_USB. The e-CAM51_USB uses the e-CAM52_5640_MOD camera module which has the NIR filter on it. The e-CAM51_USB_NIRFS has the e-CAM52_5640_MOD_NIR camera module which has the NIR filter removed. This would mean the camera can work very well at 850nm and beyond. Harishankkar Subramanyam, VP-Business Development says, "There were many e-CAM51_USB customers who came back and asked us for a NIR version of the e-CAM51_USB. These are low end NIR application customers for which the Omnivision OV5640 sensor was a perfect fit. We did the customization for them and we only see the number of enquiries growing and the e-CAM51_USB_NIRFS would be a perfect for them."

 
The e-CAM51_USB_NIRFS is UVC compatible and works plug and play in both Windows and Linux environments. There is no driver installation required. With Windows, e-con Systems provides sample application for preview and still capture and with Linux e-con Systems provides gUVCViewer support. Jul 30th, 2014 -  CX3 RDK used to demonstrate 40 Megapixel 3-D camera

e-con System's customer, Raytrix GmbH, has demonstrated a new 3-D light field camera that supports up to 40 megapixel resolution using the Denebola reference design kit from e-con (Cypress's Partner). This RDK is developed using the EZ-USB CX3 USB 3.0 camera controller by Cypress Semiconductor and supports multiple sensors and this demonstration of the all new 3-D camera only proves its capability to support higher resolutions. By default the Denebola comes with e-CAM52A_MI5640_MOD, 5 MP OV5640 based camera module. However, e-con also supports other camera modules like e-CAM58_MI5680_MOD and e-CAM51_CU5640_MOD.

e-con Systems announces the launch of the e-CAM58_MI5680_MOD, 5 Mega Pixel RAW Bayer Autofocus camera module with MIPI CSI-2 interface. The e-CAM58_MI5680_MOD houses a compatible lens with VCM driver for autofocus and manual focus. e-con Systems announces the launch of See3CAM_30Z10X, a 3.0 MP UVC compliant USB 3.0, optical zoom camera, in line to the See3CAM series. Being UVC compliant, See3CAM cameras are 'plug and play' on Windows and Linux with no additional device driver software required and the cameras work with standard Windows (DirectShow) and Linux (V4L2) software. e-con Systems has earlier launched 1.3MP global shutter cameras (See3CAM_10CUG and See3CAM_11CUG) and 8MP Autofocus USB camera (see3CAM_80) as part of the See3CAM family of cameras.

 
The See3CAM_30Z10X camera is based on a 1/3" optical format, 3.0MP CMOS Image sensor and this supports HD (1280x720 aka 720p) streaming at 60fps and Full HD (1920x1080 aka 1080p) streaming at 30fps. The camera has a high-performance Image Signal Processor (ISP) built-in that performs a variety of functions including 3A (Autofocus, Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance). The See3CAM_30Z10X contains a stepper motor driven lens assembly that supports an optical zoom of 10x (focal length 6.3mm to 63mm) and a digital zoom of 6x. The stepper-motor-driven Zoom and Autofocus lens assembly is tightly coupled with the image sensor and the ISP circuitry. The See3CAM_30Z10X camera is targeted for various applications such as inspection devices, surveillance, security, OCR etc, where the 10x optical zoom capability can be leveraged. The addition of Autofocus and specific mode of Macro mode Autofocus algorithms make this camera to be most suitable for desktop magnifier applications such as growth monitoring, article inspection, defect detection etc., The manual focus adjustment feature allows the user the precisely fix the focus position in challenging scenarios where the on-board ISP unable to identify the location and still hunting for best AF position. Jan 29th, 2014 -  e-con Systems augments its Industrial camera solutions with the launch of full color USB 3.0 camera

e-con Systems announces the launch of the See3CAM_11CUG, 1.3 MP UVC compliant color USB 3.0 camera, as part of the See3CAM family of Industrial cameras. Being UVC compliant, See3CAM cameras are 'plug and play' on Windows and Linux with no additional device driver software required and the cameras work with standard Windows (DirectShow) and Linux (V4L2 ) software. e-con Systems had earlier launched the See3CAM_10CUG last year with monochrome and Raw Bayer RGB support.

 
This color USB 3.0 camera is targeted for entry level machine vision applications, object detection/recognition such as Pharmaceutical Capsule inspection & Food/beverage Sorting based on colors and other high-speed image capture applications. With an optically isolated external trigger input, the camera can be used in a variety of industrial automation and scientific applications.

The See3CAM_11CUG a 1.3 MP USB 3.0 camera is based on Aptina / onsemi® AR0134 color image sensor. The See3CAM_11CUG's SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity enables it to capture images at 720p(HD) @30fps and 1280x960(Full Resolution) @20fps. Also 640x480(VGA) resolution at 60fps (Cropped) and 640x480 resolution at 30fps (with full FOV and binning) is supported. See3CAM_11CUG has an on board ISP that converts the RAW Bayer RGB data received from the sensor to the processed color YUV2 Image. With the ISP, gain adjustments, manual exposure control and adjustments in White balance with individual RGB gains can be supported. The camera has a CS-mount lens holder and is compatible with C-mount, CS-mount or even S-mount lenses, enabling the users to choose the lens as per their requirements. The camera has an external flash LED strobe output.
