1.12 Who is Helion Inc. and what does their ISP do?

Helion Vision is a design service and IP company. Helion is offering a wide variety of FPGA IP core for raw sensor data and image data processing. The ISP in this design is implementing the full image signal processing pipeline from raw sensor data to a correct colored YUV image. It includes demosaic/debayer, color correction, white balancing and auto exposure function. It is not using any frame memory and therefore the latency is incredibly low (less than 10 lines which is approx 0.2ms). This ISP is programmed in the FPGA that is used in the kit.

1.13 I want to use another Sony image sensor instead of IMX236. How can I configure Helion ISP to support my sensor?

Please contact e-con at sales@e-consystems.com.

1.14 Can I have access to the Helion ISP?

Yes. Two options are for your use. During run time with I2C commands via FX3 or during synthesis time. You can get full access to the reference design after signing the free of charge IP evaluation contract with Helion Vision.

1.15 Can I get access to its tuning tools?

Third parties, like Imatest, are offering full tuning suites which can be used for any ISPs. Helion can support you during your tuning of the ISP or can perform needed tuning tasks on demand/request and can also provide test setups.

1.16 I want to use a different image sensor. Can I use this kit to interface? Will your ISP support any sensor?

Yes, can be supported on case to case basis. Please write to sales@e-consystems.com.

1.17 Can I get access to ISP registers?

No, you will not get direct access for ISP registers. Refer Question 14 for more details.

1.18 Is there any license fee or royalties to be paid for using this FPGA with Helion ISP?

Yes. The ISP has a yearly license fee which includes up to 5k pieces per year. If your piece count exceeds 5k per year then piece based royalties will appear. Please ask for your personal offer and mass production discounts.

1.19 I want to produce 100 units of See3CAM_FX3_FPGA_ISP_RDK for my project. But I want to make it as single board. How can I do that?

This can be supported by e-con Systems. Please write to sales@e-consystems.com with your requirements in detail.

1.20 Can I get access to camera module registers?

No, you will not get direct access for camera module registers.

1.21 How can I program FX3 chip used in the See3CAM_FX3_FPGA_ISP_RDK?

Please refer to the Kit User manual document available to download in our website.

1.22 I don't want to use USB UVC protocol. I want to use CDC protocol. How to change the firmware to do that?

Firmware development can be done using FX3 SDK (For documentation, click here) and firmware built can be flashed into See3CAM_FX3_FPGA_ISP_RDK.

The default firmware of this kit supports only USB UVC. This firmware is available with source code and you can modify and build the same with FX3 SDK (For documentation, click here) that you can download from Infineon Semiconductors. With the given source code and the FX3 SDK, you can develop your host communication protocol such as CDC class on your own. If you need any additional help, e-con Systems can support you on case to case basis.

1.23 Is the See3CAM_FX3_FPGA_ISP_RDK refundable?

The kit is non-returnable and non-refundable. However, the kit is under warranty and e-con will replace for any failed kit under warranty terms. Please refer Warranty Terms from warranty page

1.24 Can I get a free sample for testing?
