 1. Host/OS requirements

1.1 Why do I need USB Y-cable? Why can't I use normal USB cable?

The peak power consumption of Hyperyon® is ~600mA which is higher than USB 2.0 standard. That's why we need USB Y-cable. However, nowadays, most of the Computers/Laptops are with USB3.0 host ports which can supply 900mA power. So, for practical applications, USB Y-cable will not be needed, and regular USB cables will be enough. Please check your USB host power supply capability and determine the cable.

2.4 I want to use this camera in both visible light in day time and NIR mode in night time. How can I do that?

The Hyperyon® has been fine-tuned for achieving excellent image quality under various lighting conditions including near darkness from IMX290 SONY STARVIS sensor with combination of Socionext ISP. The ISP advanced features like DOL-WDR and 3DNR functionalities brings out best in quality image in both day and night time and makes the Hyperyon is an ideal camera for 24/7 colour surveillance without IR light. So it is not really required to consider NIR mode in the night time since the Hyperyon produces best-in-class images in nearly absolute darkness conditions of 0.002Lux. If you are looking for NIR performance for any other use cases, please contact sales@e-consystems.com along with your requirements.

2.5 What are the two non-populated connectors on the Hyperyon®?

The two non-populated connectors are expansion connectors. These connectors contain several GPIO signals, SD MMC signals can be used for SD card or SDIO Wifi modules. Also, it will contain RGMI signals for Ethernet. This will be used for product customization. If you want to record the video in SD card or plan to use GigE interface instead of USB, please contact sales@e-consystems.com with your requirements for customization.
