These modules address challenges in vision-guided systems, including edge inferencing, visual SLAM, and autonomous navigation. e-con Systems optimizes sensor tuning for these platforms, ensuring dependable performance across vision workloads, from low-light image capture to effective variable lighting performance.

Both

  • See3CAM_24CUG and RouteCAM_CU22 operate independently of Qualcomm Technologies’ ISP — making them ideal for applications needing external image processing or standard USB/GigE interfaces.

With support for varied interfaces, sensor formats, and integration types, e-con Systems ensures streamlined development for edge AI vision systems built on Qualcomm® RB3 Gen 2.

Meeting Qualcomm Technologies’ Imaging Quality Requirements

To be included in Qualcomm Technologies’ list, each candidate module must undergo image tuning and testing to demonstrate compliance with a set of defined IQ metrics. These metrics serve as general evaluation parameters for color accuracy, uniformity, sharpness, texture, resolution, etc. The tuning must be performed using Qualcomm Technologies’ proprietary Image Quality tools.

e-con Systems carried out comprehensive image tuning using the Dev Edition IQ Tool. It involved iterative calibration, tuning, and testing across various lighting and scene conditions. Once tuned, each module was evaluated using Qualcomm Technologies’ IQ Evaluation Tool.

The submitted test cases resulted in an average IQ score of approximately 90% for the IMX678 and IMX715 modules — well above the required baseline threshold.

Powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ Support Infrastructure

Throughout the process, Qualcomm Technologies extended strong technical support to streamline the tuning and testing workflow. It included early access to updated versions of their Dev Edition IQ Tool and Quick Sensor Integration Tool. Such resources accelerated tuning and helped resolve challenges such as:

    • Adapting advanced IQ tuning workflows to specific sensor characteristics
    • Addressing discrepancies within the IQ Evaluation Tool outputs
    • Interpreting evaluation metrics for submission-readiness

In addition to the tools, Qualcomm Technologies’ engineering team offered guidance during review loops, improving alignment between image quality goals and hardware behavior.

Another Feather in Our Camera Ecosystem

This collaboration reinforces e-con Systems’ approach to building camera modules optimized for leading edge computing platforms. With Qualcomm Technologies’ list of supported camera modules, developers gain access to cameras optimized to work on Qualcomm Technologies’ platforms, without extensive configuration, which reduces trial cycles during prototyping and deployment. e-con Systems also shortens the time needed for sensor calibration and compatibility testing, while supporting real-world requirements.

As you may already know, e-con Systems’ AI vision kit for Qualcomm processors includes a camera, carrier board, software stack, and enclosure. We support custom modifications across hardware and software layers, including Qualcomm BSP alignment.
