e-con Systems has launched DepthVista Helix, a 1.2MP 3D CW iToF camera engineered for precise depth measurement in robotics and automation environments. DepthVista Helix strengthens the DepthVista portfolio with high-resolution depth sensing, on-camera depth computation, and flexible integration across compute platforms.
Key Features of DepthVista Helix
Exceptional On-camera Depth Computation
Depth processing is performed directly within the camera using integrated on-chip computation. This eliminates the need for application-side depth processing, reducing computational load on the host system and enabling higher effective frame rates.
By delivering ready-to-use depth output, the camera allows developers to focus on application logic rather than depth processing. It achieves stable depth measurement with less than 1% deviation.
High-resolution 1.2MP depth sensing at 60 fps
DepthVista Helix leverages the 1.2MP Hyperlux ID AF0130 sensor to deliver dense depth data with enhanced spatial detail. The combination of high resolution and high frame rate ensures reliable perception even in fast-moving robotics applications.
Dual-frequency CW iToF for long-range depth stability
DepthVista Helix incorporates dual-frequency CW iToF operation to extend usable depth range by resolving phase ambiguity. Automatic pixel binning increases photon integration, improving signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and enabling stable depth measurements at longer distances for reliable AMR navigation.
Industrial-grade design
DepthVista Helix features an IP67-rated enclosure that withstands harsh industrial environments. The rugged design protects against dust, moisture, and temperature variations, ensuring reliable 24/7 operation in warehouses and outdoor automation systems.
Flexible multi-platform integration
The camera is available with GMSL, USB, or MIPI interface options, enabling flexible integration across a wide range of robotics platforms. It supports deployment across multiple compute environments and integrates seamlessly with widely used edge AI platforms, including NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™.
Comprehensive SDK support
DepthVista Helix is supported by e-con’s DepthVista SDK, which includes Linux drivers, sample applications, and depth visualization tools. This software framework accelerates evaluation and integration, allowing developers to quickly test and deploy depth-based robotics applications.
DepthVista Helix can also be customized with multiple VCSEL illumination options, including a 4-VCSEL configuration for outdoor deployments, enabling extended depth sensing of up to 6 meters. It can also be offered with an optional RGB sensor alongside depth output, allowing simultaneous capture of visual and depth data for enhanced scene understanding and analytics.
With all these features, DepthVista Helix is well suited for a wide range of robotics and automation applications, including pick-and-place robots, palletization and depalletization, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), industrial safety and automation systems, and smart agriculture use cases such as row detection and harvesting.
