How e-con Systems equipped a Top Sports Tech Provider with a Custom OEM 4K Dome Camera Platform

Sports recording platforms are undeniably growing fast across training facilities, schools, and sports venues. However, this means that camera limitations start showing up fast. The fact is that many providers rely on commercial PoE surveillance cameras for video capture. But when those cameras move into automated sports recording and live streaming workflows, that’s when the problems begin.

Sports technology providers face resolution, optics, system control, and branding challenges as they scale.

Recently, a leading provider faced these issues while expanding its platform. The client needed a camera platform that could capture large playing areas in 4K, fit different venue layouts, integrate with its streaming stack, and carry its own product identity.

e-con Systems worked with the client to deliver that solution.

What Challenges Were Faced By Our Client?

The client was using multiple camera models across indoor courts, mixed indoor-outdoor settings, and large outdoor fields. While those systems shared similar baseline specs, they created several issues during deployment and scale-up.

  • Inconsistent coverage quality across large playing areas
  • Lack of flexibility for different venue layouts and mounting conditions
  • Restricted system-level control, which made custom AI expansion harder
  • Limited integration with the client’s software platform
  • Missing OEM branding options for a fully branded product rollout

How e-con Systems Offered a Custom OEM 4K Camera Platform

e-con Systems developed a customizable 4K dome camera platform for automated sports recording and live streaming applications. The solution focused on high-resolution imaging, optics flexibility, streaming compatibility, and deeper platform control.

The highlights of the solution were:

  • 4K camera platform: 8 MP Sony CMOS image sensor with 3840 × 2160 resolution – with an integrated microphone for audio capture
  • Motorized 3X zoom lens: Adjustable field-of-view based on venue layout and installation height
  • Image tuning: ISP tuning for indoor stadium lighting, HDR tuning for mixed lighting conditions, and lens optimization for wide-area coverage
  • Platform-level control: ARM-based embedded processor with onboard memory and edge AI capability of around 4 TOPS for future analytics on the device
  • Streaming and integration: Gigabit Ethernet, RTSP and ONVIF compatibility, PoE under IEEE 802.3af Class 3, multiple streaming resolutions including 4K, 1080p, and 720p, and frame rate handling up to 60 fps
  • Venue-ready enclosure: Aluminum alloy dome enclosure with IP67 waterproof protection, IK10 vandal resistance, and wall and pole mounting options
  • OEM branding: Logo customization and product labeling for the client’s own brand rollout
