  The OV3640 (color) image sensor is a low voltage, high performance 1/4-inch 3.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor that provides the full functionality of a single chip QXGA (2048 x 1536) camera using OmniPixel3™ technology in a small footprint package. It is an Anti-shaking camera module and provides full-frame, sub-sampled, windowed or arbitrarily scaled 8-bit/10-bit images in various formats via the control of the Serial Camera Control Bus (SCCB) interface or MIPI interface.

The OV3640 supports both a digital video parallel port and a serial MIPI port. The MIPI and ISP interface can be used for a second camera sensor without requiring a dual serial port camera system.

Customers who own Freescale i.MX31 ADS platform, Phytec’s i.MX31 RDK and are interested in evaluating the 3.2 MP autofocus camera can buy the e-CAM32_i.Mxx based evaluation kit from e-con Systems.  Other than the e-CAM32_i.MXx, the evaluation kit comes up with sample viewfinder application for still capture, device driver for Linux (V4L2 compliant), schematics for the processor interface and support for 4 weeks.
